Typical Week
Saturday:
Most of HWA's (Horn's Whitetail Adventures) clients fly into Saskatoon , Sk on Sat. via North West Air.
Once in Saskatoon most of HWA's clients stay at the Saskatoon Inn or the Heritage Inn.
Sunday:
With the directions provided by HWA the client drives his or her rental vehicle north to HWA's lodge located on beautiful Sled Lake (or book a ride with our recommended shuttle service). The client is required to be at the lodge by 2:00 pm. ( The drive is approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, so please allow 4 hours for the drive). Once the client has arrived at HWA's lodge he or she will be taken to an area near by to shoot his or her weapon of choice to ensure the weapon is still accurate after travel. Dinner will be served in the lodge that evening.
Following dinner an orientation from one or more of HWA's qualified staff will take place. The orientation is to help insure that HWA's clients are familiar with all appropriate wildlife department regulations as well as camp rules. Included in the orientation is a segment on effective ways to field judge trophy northern Whitetails and/or Bears, as judging these Northern giants may prove challenging. After your orientation is complete your lunch order for the week will be taken and the appropriate hunting liscenses you will require will be issued to you.
Monday – Friday: (Deer)
Monday morning brings the first day of your Trophy Whitetail hunt. Each morning the first morning starts with a hearty breakfast prepared for you by one of HWA's gourmet cooks. After breakfast you will receive your bagged lunch which will include sandwhiches, assorted snacks and cookies, as well as your choice of a thermos full of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or soup.
Once you are changed into your hunting gear it's off to the field with one of HWA's knowlageable guides. To ensure the best chances for our clients HWA uses the highest quality baits available, and a baiting regime that starts 6 to 12 weeks prior to the first day of the regular season. ( Baiting is permitted by law in the province of Saskatchewan ). While on stand you can remain in contact with your guide with the aid of a 2 way radio supplied to you by HWA. After hunting all day your guide will pick you up and return you to HWA's modern full service lodge for a hearty home cooked meal.
